Malborough Road Glenageary

This project is set in a beautiful three storey, 19th century house in Glenageary, County Dublin.

The project involved general alterations and extension to provide a new kitchen and dining space, a new home office and family living space, a utility room, a glazed link to a courtyard a wine cave and the reconstruction of the garage. The project also entailed the improvement of existing spaces including the main bathroom.

The rear extension and alteration was conceived to make connection between the existing house and its beautiful mature rear garden.

Working with brick zinc and glass as materials, we came up with the concept to make a tapering full height glazed screen, and to detail this in a contemporary manner. We maintained the existing brick structure volume, raised the roof, and installed steel collars to maximize the height potential within the main living spaces.

We have installed high levels of insulation and new windows throughout, which dramatically reduce heat loss and improve energy efficiency.

The project is featured in the January 2011 edition of the leading British Kitchen magazine, “Beautiful Kitchens”.
